QR Code Marketing - Creating an Effective Call-to-Action Tool

QR Code Marketing 101 - Create an effective call-to-action

“Hey you, on the mobile…scan me and I’ll show you something schweet!”

That was a QR code, and THAT’S a call-to-action. It tells members of your target audience exactly what you want them to do, why you want them to do it, and it implies a rewarding and worthwhile experience for very little effort on their part. It’s brilliant.

QR codes – or “quick response” barcodes – are one of the hottest web trends in brand marketing today. When implemented properly, it can take a brand, product or service into the stratosphere! (You know, because it’s designed for mobile device users.)

Unless you have a compelling call-to-action message for your QR code, however, you’re likely to receive less interest and get far less response for your QR Code marketing effort – the curious (untargeted) “Lookie Loo.” In regards to lead tracking, this can be a nightmare. It’s definitely a marketing fail.

A QR code should be accompanied by a succinct call-to-action that really packs a punch, or at least serves as an engaging teaser to whatever information you plan to share. It should make customers and prospects want to solve the mystery behind that tiny square of customized content – to excite them to use their mobile device as a modern-day decoder ring.

You don’t have to hire a professional marketer to create a tempting QR code call-to-action. It’s as easy as saying, “Do this (specific). Get this. (vague, until they scan the code.)”

Some examples of a compelling QR code marketing call-to-action lines are:

“Scan for a VIP virtual tour” “Scan for a sneak peek at our new music video” “Scan to receive a diner discount off your next meal” “Scan for your chance to win a new car” “Scan for the next road race location and clue”

A QR code without a call-to-action is like a fishing pole without bait – one just doesn’t work without the other. At myQRad.com, it’s easy to generate, manage and track your customized QR code, as well as change your marketing message without changing your code. It’s “Information Made Easy.”

Now, what do you have to say about it?
